I am starting a weekly newsletter. Facebook posts get missed so maybe emails will help with what we need, ongoing fundraisers, etc. If you would like a weekly newsletter for updates, fill out the form above.
I cook 40 lbs of freezer clean out meat/week if we have it. I use the eggs from our chickens for meal prep so also feeding the chickens each week for the dog’s. Hoping the baby hens will start laying come spring and can sell their eggs at the Farmers Market to help out. Freezer clean outs are getting harder to find.
My goal next year is to get us meat chickens, turkeys and ducks to stock the freezer for meal prep.
I am turning the garden into a flower garden to sell flowers at the Farmers Market.
I have my cottage food license so hoping to bring human baked goods to the farmers market.
I plan to convert my garage or get a shed to move all baking to. Will need plumbing if I can afford otherwise will operate like a camper using Culligan water dispensing and grey water tanks. Also, need electricity.
I will post monthly sponsorships and our needs more often. Along with our cookie sales or any other fundraiser we are doing. I did not post as often which was probably why the calendars were missed. I know the economy is horrible and people are struggling and I felt so guilty asking for help with dogs when humans are suffering. One of my board members will be taking over and making these posts as she knows that I probably will never have the heart to post them in the frequency that the dogs need.
The cookie sales are what benefit me in the long run to help pay off my debt as that is an LLC that is separate from the nonprofit. I unfortunately have not been able to use funds generated by the cookie sales to assist me, but rather I’ve had to use them to purchase items for the dogs.
I also think that we need to form a small committee that is fully volunteered to help get Barktoberfest up and running for the 2026 year. It was more than likely involve meetings via Zoom to accomplish what would be needed to get that going.
Maybe next winter season I could find somewhere to provide dog sled rides as well as insurance that would not destroy our entire season of profit. Current quotes, I would never even make them back providing rides every other weekend.
