Second Chance Mushers Rescue (SCMR) is located near Traverse City, Mi and is a team of rescued dogs who enjoy a second chance at life.
Second Chance Mushers Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization that specializes in the rescue of northern breed dogs.
SCMR is a sanctuary home currently for northern breed dogs. The organization focuses on training, rehabilitation , and teaching these unwanted dogs that life is full of fun and adventure.
Over the years, dogs were offered to me (Sarah) so I opened Second Chance Mushers LLC which focused on dog sled rides to cover the expenses of the dogs. This allowed me to take in the dogs who needed assistance, provide medical care, and educate the community of northern breed dogs by giving dog sled rides. But the money raised from rides during the winter months didn't support the rescue dogs year round.
More and more dogs I found were in need of a new home, so I opened Second Chance Mushers Rescue non-profit with the hopes of helping more dogs.
Second Chance Mushers Rescue is in the process of updating the outbuildings. This will be to comply with the state of Michigan requirements to be able to adopt dogs into new homes. Until then, I will continue to be a sanctuary home for dogs in need.
